Art and Poetry - Picasso and Musset

Pablo Picasso Matisse “Spanish Dancer” from 1901.

and

Alfred de Musset "Madrid" from Tales of Spain and Italy", 1830

Madrid, Princess of the Spains,
He runs through your thousand campaigns
Many blue eyes, many black eyes.
The white city of serenades,
He goes through your walks
Lots of little feet every night.
Madrid, Madrid, me, I make fun of myself
Of your slender ladies
Who put on the narrow shoe;
Because I know one in the world
Than ever neither brunette nor blonde
Were worth the tip of his finger!
Because she's my Andalusian princess!
My girlfriend ! my jealous!
My beautiful widow with a long network!
He's a real demon! it's an angel !
She is yellow, like an orange,
She is lively as a bird!
Oh ! when on my idolatrous mouth
She swoons, the frisky,
We must see, in our great battles,
This body so supple and so fragile,
Like a racer,
Flee and slip between my arms!
But if by chance we investigate
Which earned me such a conquest,
This is the gait of my horse,
A compliment on her mantilla,
Then vanilla candies
On a beautiful carnival evening
