Maeght Foundation - Malraux

Twilight on "The Fork" of Joan Miró in "The Labyrinth" of the Maeght Foundation.

Excerpt from "La Saga Maeght", Robert Laffont edition.
"In 1973, my grandfather offered André Malraux to create his "Musée Imaginaire" at the Maeght Foundation. The day of the inauguration André Malraux confesses: "It is overwhelming to see my imaginary museum become reality. " In the book "La Tête d'obsidienne", published in 1974, he wrote: "In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the Maeght Foundation, the only French foundation comparable to the great American foundations, erects its pagoda roofs overhead Renoir's trees. I inaugurated it, without seeing it, one night in 1964. At ground level, Giacometti's smoke trembled in the shadows; Miró had stuck the horns of his devils and the pitchfork of his ingenuous hell on the Provencal firmament. Here they are, the little girls, who had brought me the keys to the Foundation on a beautiful cushion, are married. "

Aimé and Marguerite Maeght surround André Malraux, the evening of the inauguration of the Maeght Foundation, in July 1964. Florence Maeght holds the keys of the Foundation on a velvet cushion, at her side, Yoyo Maeght.
